Junior Maths Tutorial

I have been teaching mathematics for over 8 years at the college/university level and tutoring for over 15 years.  Currently I teach part time at Austin Community College, but have also taught at Vanderbilt University (a top 20 ranked university) and at the University of Louisville.

Often times, people are nervous about getting help in math: don’t be!  I tell my students all the time that math is challenging for all of us at one point or another.  My intent is to provide clear and thorough explanations, and to present them in an environment in which the student is comfortable.

Dynaminc Paper

Need a pentagonal pyramid that's six inches tall? Or a number line that goes from ‑18 to 32 by 5's? Or a set of pattern blocks where all shapes have one-inch sides? You can create all those things and more with the Dynamic Paper tool. Place the images you want, then export it as a PDF activity sheet for your students or as a JPG image for use in other applications or on the web.

Real World Math

These Concept lessons are designed to target specific math concepts, often in real world settings and situations.  You’ll solve proportions, estimate area, and calculate volume in unique locations around the world.

Chapter after chapter of any math book is filled with a multitude of concepts to learn.  Having a solid foundation of conceptual knowledge is important, but it's just as important to know how to apply what you have learned and to view it in different ways.  One problem with most math texts is that they don't spend enough time exploring concepts in depth because, as you know, there's always another concept on the next page.

With Google Earth, you'll be able to see math concepts in a different light.  They're worth exploring and understanding fully.  In Google Earth you'll be able to interact with the concepts and see how they're evident in real life.  These lessons are sure to be more interesting than just another page in a math text.
